AmmenitiesDoctor's Cell Phone:No answering service is needed after office hours. Every enrolled family is given the doctor's direct cell phone and pager number. No Answering Machine:Our ratio of staff to patients is about 4 to 8 times greater than that found in a traditional pediatric practice. We don't expect anyone to have trouble reaching us. Everyone deserves to talk to a real person when they are concerned about their child's well-being. Same Day Appointments:The school just called and said your child can't play sports unless a health form is brought in tomorrow. Call us to come in today. Our goal is to see you the day you need to be seen and to make sure you receive all the services you require. Decreased Waiting Time:How many times have you waited in the waiting room for over an hour while watching your child play with same toys as 10 other children with drippy noses. Our patients are expected to be brought into the exam room within 3 minutes. Decreased Spread of Infection:Our house calls will keep most children with highly contagious illnesses out of the office and away from other children. Just in case, we have several unique back-up plans not found in other practices. We don't know of any other non-hospital based pediatric office in the Northeast to have a negative pressure examination room. Because this room has its own ventilation system, the risk of spreading air-borne diseases such as chicken pox and tuberculosis is significantly reduced. Illnesses spread by contact with mucous or saliva are also reduced thanks to the innovative games we have installed which are played without requiring physical contact by the children. Extended Appointment Times:The length of the visit with the doctor is determined by the needs of the patient and not by the needs of the doctor to see over 30 patients per day. If you need more than 1 hour, you will get more than 1 hour. House Calls Available:We all have complicated lives. We don't want your child to suffer because some extrinsic factor prevents you from getting to the office that day. We can help by coming to your home. Beware, your child is going to complain that he or she wasn't able to come to the office. Appointment Reminders:You will receive a call to remind you about the visits you have scheduled and about those which are due to be scheduled. Decreased Emergency Room Visits:We understand the inconvenience and fear of waiting 3 hours to receive care by someone unfamiliar to your child. Our doctor and nurses all have experience working in a busy urban children's emergency department. We are equipped to stitch, staple, and glue cuts. We are equipped to administer IV fluids if your child has been vomiting. We are equipped to administer Asthma treatments and oxygen in the office. Let's keep you out of the hospital if we can. Full In-House Laboratory Specimen Collection:Traditional laboratories lack the experience and compassion to adequately collect blood and other samples from children. It's also unpleasant to travel to the laboratory and wait with a sick child. We can collect all the samples in our office in a more familiar and relaxed setting. Direct Reporting:We call you with the results of all lab tests and studies as soon as they become available. Good or bad, you deserve to hear it from us. You deserve the right to ask questions and understand all findings. Decreased Trips to the Specialist:Our patients don't have to make as many visits to specialists to "rule-out" a medical condition. We can perform important screening tests such as EKG's and Pulmonary Function Testing in our office. The results are double checked by experts when needed and the patients go on to see the cardiologist or pulmonologist only when it is necessary. If you do end up in the office of a specialist, we will personally coordinate care with them to develop the most effective treatment plan and to determine how we can most conveniently facilitate the monitoring of your child's progress. Highest Level of Technology:We are eliminating the frustration of the doctor or nurse not being able to figure out what they wrote in your chart the last 3 visits. You shouldn't have to re-explain your child's illness over and over again. We have replaced all paper charts with the latest in electronic chart technology. This means more detailed notes about the visits including future plan discussions, therapies attempted, labs done, and all phone calls. Most importantly, it means access to your child's chart from anywhere. When the doctor talks to you at 2am from his house, he will have all your records in front of him. Pharmacy Convenience:Our electronic charts are linked to all the participating pharmacies in the area. This means your prescription gets to the pharmacy before you have even left the office. We Value Education:Nobody should leave the physician's office more confused than when they arrived. We have enhanced the learning experience. Projectors have been installed in the ceilings of all the exam rooms to visually facilitate physician explanations. Personalized treatment plans are given after visits. Hundreds of educational handouts and valuable medical links are available on our website. Patient Comfort:Although we offer home visits, be prepared for your child to insist upon coming in. Shadow walls and interactive projector games are only two of the child museum quality entertainment activities found in the office. Toddlers and school age children love the hippo and truck shaped exam tables with matching murals. Even teenagers love their personal "home entertainment" exam room which boasts a 46 inch flat screen television over a faux electric fireplace. They can either listen to music or use the PlayStation while sitting in the massage chair with built-in speakers. Parental Comfort:Enjoy a Cappuccino, Chai Latte, or a simple cup of coffee while checking your e-mail at our parental cybernet area in the waiting room. |
